About Jessica Thurston

I am an abstract landscape and cityscape painter based in Brooklyn, New York. Through my work, I try to explore the way people move through space and the role memory plays in understanding the spaces we’ve passed through. Lately, I’ve also been exploring the shape that light takes in framing a space, whether or not that light is natural or artificial.

My professional background is in sustainability management and helping organizations mitigate and adapt to climate change. That work permeates my approach to art and the landscapes over which I obsess.

Separately, I study figure and portrait drawing at the Art Students League of New York.
